The Barn is an amazing place to stay. It is very peaceful, clean and equipped to a very high standard. So much thought and love to enhance your stay. The bonus of a safe place for the dogs was so relaxing Thank you

We spent the first week of our recent holiday in North Devon and could not have chosen a better accommodation than The Cottage, Great Eckworthy, hosted by Chris and Anna, as an excellent base to explore North Devon for the first time. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed. In the kitchen alone there was every conceivable cooking implement even down to an oyster shucker. The main living accommodation was a lounge/dining room/kitchen which was absolutely fine for our needs. There was a washing machine, dishwasher, oven and hob all of which were of good quality. The ‘lounge’ was equipped with a good size television connected to ‘Freely’ and Netflix, a blessing as Devon terrestrial TV is not good. The bedroom was a good size with a king-size bed and a very comfortable mattress. The bathroom was equipped with both a bath and a walk-in shower with both rain or handheld shower heads. The latter for us was our go to; the shower tap was situated to the side of the shower area which was perfect for getting the temperature right before you stepped in. There is a terrace outside the cottage equipped with two sun loungers and a table and chairs and as the location is rural you can sit in peace and quiet. Chris and Anna supplied a lovely welcome pack which included six rather nice brown eggs and a nice touch a jug of fresh milk for our arrival cup of tea. There was a lovely bunch of fresh flowers and a relaxing scent from a reed diffuser. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The nice touches made a difference and one small issue we had was tackled immediately and rectified by Chris. Anna has spiked my interest in Genealogy, again a nice touch if you so desire. She also ensures a supply of reading material and if you had a specific interest she would, no doubt, find something for you. Great Eckworthy also has a small salon/treatment room where a local lady will carry out treatments if you wish. Definitely a five-star accommodation up there in our better stays. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cottage at Great Eckworthy. It’s an incredible place. Surrounded by beautiful countryside you’ll find a calm and beautiful retreat. The hosts, Chris and Anna, are wonderful. The Cottage is beautifully presented and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The bed was extremely comfortable and laid with beautiful linen. The bathroom was really lovely and I loved the little additional touches. There is no doubt that the properties are high end and incredibly well maintained. The grounds are absolutely immaculate and there is also a lovely Beauty Room where you can pre book treatments such as manicures and hot stone massages. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. We would absolutely love to return. I would very highly recommend for a wonderful holiday in stunning North Devon.

Such a lovely little place to stay, it was so peaceful and had everything we needed. Anna is a lovely host and made us feel very welcome, I would most definitely recommend and love to return!!

Loved staying here. We had a lovely warm welcome from Chris, Anna & the cats. The cottage is a real home from home with everything we could possibly need, scrumptiously clean & smells amazing. I had an excellent manicure & relaxing Hot Stone massage with Lauren, a really nice experience to offer to guests. Chris & Anna are a mine of information so ask them if you need help on where to visit.

Stayed in The Granary for a long weekend. Accommodation was beautifully presented and equipped. Host very friendly. Would highly recommend.

Another great stay in my Air BNB exploration. Tucked away in a countryside/rural location, this is a tranquil retreat from where to take stock and refresh. Used as a base with loads of small towns/villages all within a 30 mins radius….Westward Ho! wins out as my favourite of the week. The accommodation had everything…the hosts have covered every eventuality. The living accommodation being upstairs made the best use of the views and wildlife – beautiful house martins, sparrows, squirrels and an occasional ‘moo’ in distance…. Great stay, loved it and definitely recommend.

If you want to relax and recharge then this is the place for you! It is a tranquil location and we spent alot of time relaxing in the hot tub enjoying the beautiful views. The Barn is superbly appointed and the beds were so comfortable! Chris and Anna were fantastic hosts from the beginning of the booking process until we departed The Barn. Our family had a very special weekend away together. Thankyou!

You have done thought of everything you could need in the Granary. Our stay was over too quick, but we will hopefully be back again.

This is our 2nd visit & had a fantastic stay. Enjoyed Clovelly & hiring bikes to cycle to Instow for lunch. Our highlight was canoeing on the River Tamar during the Eclipse. Thank you, we look forward to a 3rd visit.

WOW, What an incredible few days. We wish we’d have booked longer. The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful. Anna has a keen eye for detail, style and class. Everything we needed was available at the home and every small detail had been thought of. Anna & Chris were extremely friends and helpful, whilst allowing us to unwind and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere on our own. The hot tub was a particular favourite, sipping fizz in the hot tub, star gazing after a fun day out at the local favourite spots (recommend by Anna &Chris) The BBQ was also wonderful. Cooking outside and chilling in the evening. We visited Clovelly, Woolacombe beach and Instow. All were fabulous. The cottage surroundings were beautiful and peaceful and everyone we came across were super friendly and welcoming. We will be back for sure. Thank you so much. Lots of love

This is a lovely private accommodation with friendly & helpful owners. Stylish and full of charm, kitted out very well. A garden sun trap with hot tub, sun loungers & beautiful countryside views. A little off the beaten track good for quiet & peaceful retreats. We were welcomed with stunning fresh flowers, local eggs & much more. Thank you to our lovely hosts, Anna-Marie & Chris.

Just returned from an amazing 7 night stay at The Barn. Can’t rate it highly enough. Everything that you could ever think you needed was there and everything has been thought through so carefully. The attention to detail from the lovely fluffy robes to lovely toiletries was superb The Barn was just perfect and so clean and immaculate. We wanted somewhere to switch off from the world and for our son to do have a change of scenery while having peace to do some studying and we couldn’t have asked for more. It is so peaceful and quiet and so so relaxing. The highlight was the hot tub and we certainly relaxed at the end of the day in it, returning from exploring the area. There is so much to see in the area and so many wonderful places to eat. The treatment room was also so nice and Lauren was so lovely and I certainly felt pampered. Chris and Anna couldn’t have been nicer hosts and from the start of our holiday where they did a lovely meet and greet. They then provided excellent information on recommendations of places to eat or where to visit in the area. Throughout the stay they ensured that we had everything we needed and there were special touches left on arrival which was just the icing on the cake for a fantastic start to our stay. We made some very special memories staying at Great Eckworthy and we really do hope to return soon. It just went far too quickly! Thank you Chris and Anna for making our stay so memorable

We had an amazing week at The Granary. The place was perfect. We love to cook on holiday and this had one of the best stocked kitchens we have seen. We loved how private the outside space was, and the local information was excellent. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. I would recommend The Granary without reservation.

A big thank you Anna & Chris, you have given us everything we could have wanted here. We have had a lovely week, been to some lovely places & restaurants which you recommended. This is a great find and one to be shared. It’s been lovely meeting you both.

We stayed at Great Eckworthy with Chris and Anna for 4 nights at the start of July 2026. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Chris and Anna were fantastic hosts nothing was to much trouble and the place was fantastic. It was very well equipped with everything you required for a wonderful stay and the hot tub well what can I say except magical. Such a relaxing peaceful holiday we really felt the benefit from. You will not be disappointed

Great cottage very clean and comfortable. Owners very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Lovely quiet location with amazing flowers around the cottage. Hope to go again in the future, would highly recommend.

Fourth time at this delightful setting. Anna and Chris run a gorgeous, secluded group of holiday cottages, secretly located and slightly off the beaten track. Although we’d rather not tell anyone about its location for fear of it becoming too popular, Anna and Chris deserve to be oversubscribed for the amount of effort and attention given to this hidden gem! Talk about secret escapes! These cottages lack nothing. They are a welcome break from life’s everyday cares; a place to relax and recharge, within easy reach of coast and countryside. As a base for exploring, perfectly situated. As a hideaway to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, superb. Nothing is too much trouble to our hosts. We truly value their attention to detail and their welcoming nature. Thanks guys – looking forward to number 5!

Thank you Chris and Anna, we had a lovely weeks stay at The Granary, so clean, well presented and equipped with everything you could think of and more. Everything about the cottage was quality, both inside and out. We enjoyed the local attractions of Hartland, Clovelly, North Burrows and Bude. We also enjoyed a day mid week just relaxing in the cottage when the weather wasn’t on our side…popping on the log burner😁. We visited the Farmers Arms twice, once to eat in and once to enjoy fish n chips from their takeaway on the way back from Bude. Just the re-set we needed! Many thanks again.

Visit No 4. Our annual go to destination for rest and relaxation. Anna & Chris are as delightful as ever. The Cottage – perfect for us. The location – brilliant! This visit we managed to get to The Lost Gardens of Heligan (well worth the drive) and sample the culinary delights of The Rectory Farm Tearooms and Bush Inn at Morwenstow. Looking forward to next time.

This was our fourth stay as we love the place so much. We stayed at the Barn again where there are three good sized rooms and bathrooms so can easily suit six people with ease. The decor is lovely and high-end and the property and grounds are well cared for by the owners, Chris and Anna. We were joined by our daughter and her partner for the weekend and they stayed in the Cottage which is just across the courtyard from the Barn. Again, the decor there is spot on. It was quiet and secluded which suited us and our dogs and we saw much birdlife around the grounds. We also had the added benefit of two secure fields for the dogs adjoining the property and outside patios and jacuzzis for both cottages. The weather was perfect and we had a great time as it’s only a few miles to several beaches (Westward Ho! and Instow) and dog-friendly pubs (The Bell Inn – Parkham for Sunday lunch, our new favourite, the Boathouse at Instow and also The Royal George at Appledore). All three pubs were excellent and had great staff, so well worth the visit. We also discovered Melbury Plantation a few miles away from the cottages which looks like a scene from Game of Thrones. Well worth a few hours walking around the forest grounds. Even if you don’t want to drive there is plenty to do at the property, including walks, BBQ, nature watching and star gazing at night. Here’s to the next trip.

A truly wonderful self-catering escape in a beautifully secluded rural setting. From the moment we arrived Anna and Chris made us feel incredibly welcome. They were warm, friendly, on hand if we needed anything, while still giving complete privacy. The cottage itself is exceptionally well equipped and finished to a high standard with everything you could need for a comfortable, relaxing stay. One of the highlights was unwinding in the hot tub under the stars (no light pollution) with a glass of champagne in hand!! On cooler evenings, the log fire made the cottage feel cosy and inviting. Great Eckworthy is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and enjoy a peaceful countryside retreat. Highly recommended. Thank you so much for your help and hospitality Anna and Chris.
