A really beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings, very tastefully refurbished and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The hosts were lovely!

This was a last minute booking for new year and we were thrilled with it.. The granary is a wonderful cottage, very cosy and very tastefully done. The owners Anna and Chris are lovely and we would highly recommend it for a break away. The hot tub was fantastic to enjoy a long soak in. The bed was so comfortable, so much so, we purchased pillows and a duvet.

The Barn was the perfect place to spend New Year with friends and our two dogs. Chris and Anna are fabulous hosts and were so very kind and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are cosy, comfortable and furnished beautifully. The kitchen is spacious, well equipped and the views are stunning. A soak in the hot tub after day out walking was the perfect end to each day. The best Classic property we have stayed in to date, would definitely recommend.

This cottage had everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay, the property was absolutely beautiful . The owners greeted us when we arrived and even started a fire for us as we’d had a very long journey down. Very lovely couple with a property to be proud of. Already booked to return.

We would recommend this cottage as a lovely place in the countryside with a great hot tub and log burner. The cottage is equipped with everything one needs for self-catering. The owners are so lovely and welcoming but leave you alone unless you need them. It’s dog friendly which is great. We will be back!!

‘Bliss’

My daughter and I were made to feel so very welcome and everything we needed was in our wonderful cottage The bed was beyond comfortable and there were real size bone china mugs to drink our tea from. Just made our few days together mum and daughter even more precious.

Anna and Chris were simply incredible hosts! Their recently renovated and beautifully restored Granary exceeded all our expectations—it was even better than we’d hoped. This was our first trip to North Devon, and we were absolutely blown away by its beauty. The Granary itself was a dream: an unbelievably comfortable bed, a fabulous kitchen, a cosy fireplace, and a hot tub that was perfect for keeping the chill at bay. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or a productive working holiday (the Wi-Fi is fantastic!), we can’t recommend the Granary highly enough.

Leaving our little home away from home & our kind & generous Anna & Chris is hard after such an amazing experience. This little sanctuary of yours has touched us both & in our memories forever xxx

The cottage is beautiful, very clean and well equipped, with a lovely comfortable lounge and a cosy log fire. All the facilities are first class with everything provided for a wonderful holiday. The hot tub is a wonderful bonus. With regards to the location, it is in beautiful countryside, perfect for walking. Most facilities are within a short drive. Anna is an excellent and friendly host, always available for assistance and any questions. Altogether a wonderful break.

We spent 5 days here and loved every minute of it. Navigating to the cottage is easy if you use the “What 3 Words” app but using Google Maps on my phone also worked. When we got there we were greeted by our hosts, Anne and Chris, who gave us a quick rundown of how to use equipment such as the hot tub controls and the wood burner. The welcome food package they gave us at the start of our stay was much appreciated as was the wood burner which they had already started in advance. Everything in the cottage was high end luxury from the kettle to the bathroom fittings; their attention to detail was impressive. The hosts were never far away from us but we never felt crowded and only saw them fleetingly during our stay. If you want quiet then this is your place. The loudest noise for most of our stay was the low hum of the hot tub! My phone signal was rubbish in the cottage but better outside. Their Wi-Fi was much better for using the internet and the Netflix service they supplied free with the stay worked fine. Our particular cottage (called The Cottage) had a small fenced off area in which we could leave our dog to roam without a lead but for anywhere else on the site a lead is required as there is a nearby field which can contain sheep. Overall, an excellent stay that I would not mind repeating.

I was looking for somewhere to go with a group of girlfriends, then some time as a couple. This was perfect for both options. Communication was easy and informative with Anna and Chris, and when I met them both upon arrival, they were such a lovely welcoming couple. The barn itself was outstanding and spotless. Every room was gorgeous, I want bathrooms and kitchens like they have! The property is really high spec. The bedrooms are fantastic, with 5 star beds and linen. Every one of my guests commented on how comfortable the beds were. Anna and Chris had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable, from local recommendations to small touches around the home that really made it feel special, like gorgeous dressing gowns for every guest, beautiful scented soap, fluffy blankets for outside…. the list is endless! The area has something for everyone. We did a few of the many recommendations and particularly enjoyed cycling the Tarka trail, and then spent the evening in the hot tub looking at the stars. Bliss! This is the perfect retreat for anyone looking to recharge and enjoy the beautiful Devon countryside. Thank you both!

What an amazing time we had at Great Eckworthy!! Anna and Chris were the most delightful hosts and the property is absolutely stunning. We loved the small village of Buckland Brewer and visited all of the places that Chris and Anna recommended. The English coast and countryside are dramatic and beautiful We stayed in the “Barn” (hardly a barn :). Every room was cozy and comfortable. They have thought of every detail to make your stay as relaxing and stress free as possible. We highly recommend a visit to Great Eckworthy and this part of England.

Me and my girlfriend Katie stayed at the Cottage for 4 nights and it was Amazing! Chris and Anna were amazing on greeting us and welcoming us. The hot tub and log burner were my favourite things! Even when it was raining getting out in the hot tub then back into the cottage to get the log burner on and play some board games with the Netflix on the TV was a dream.

The first cottage we’ve ever returned to having been with Classic Cottages for 20 years. NOT disappointed & would come again. Hosts Anna & Chris are amazing, such a wonderful & relaxing environment. Farmers Arms & Black River – perfect. Thank you Chris & Anna for making us feel so welcome, for sharing your knowledge of the area & the informative welcome pack. Going home rested & relaxed. xx

Excellent property maintained at a very high standard with quality fixtures, fittings and furniture. Hosts extremely welcoming and attentive. Conveniently located to visit sights on North Devon coast. Very relaxing stay.

Could not have asked for a better get away. Chris and Anna could not have been more accommodation . This cottage is full of everything you could ever need and truly is a home away from home. We will be back. xxx

Anybody looking for the perfect property, in a great location, beautifully decorated, great amenities and fantastic hosts this is the place for you! Our stay at the Barn at Great Eckworthy could not have been any better and can’t recommend this place and the hosts enough!

Anna and Chris were very helpful and very informative from the point of booking The Granary. We had a brilliant peaceful 14 days. A fabulous place to stay with wonderful facilities and plenty of areas inside and out to read our many books! We will definitely recommend and will look forward to returning.

What a lovely Cottage in a very peaceful beautiful location. Just perfect for relaxing and chilling. Anna & Chris are lovely and about should you need anything and very knowledgeable about the area. The cottage does have everything you need and if it doesn’t they will get it for you. Outside area is well presented and the hidden/ private Hot Tub is fabulous. Dog friendly with some very lovely little walks around the fields near the property. These are well maintained and there are seats to rest and take the amazing vista in. Although there are other cottages it is very private. Definitely recommend these cottages! Hopefully we will be back.

Our visit to Great Ecworthy, The Cottage, was fantastic. All aspects of the accommodation were exceptional, beautiful bedding, furnishings, cutlery, crockery. Fabulous outdoor facilities, furniture, jacuzzi, towels, robes. The cleanliness is second to none. It’s delightful to visit a cottage where you can truly relax in sheer comfort and indulgence. The outdoors offer picturesque views and birdsong. A truly stunning cottage. This was our second visit this year, we stayed in The Barn in May, which led us to booking two weeks in August of this year. Great owners, professional, helpful, thoughtful. This is 5* accommodation, a rare find, a delight.

The cottage is beautiful; stylishly decorated and excellently kitted out with everything you could need. The private outside space (next to fields) is great for relaxing with a book, enjoying the hot tub or eating an alfresco meal. Fantastic holiday let.

The Barn was above our expectations. The furnishing is very beautiful, the beds are very comfortable. The hottub makes you feel at a luxurious holiday. From the Barn you can easily reach the beautiful coast of Devon and north Cornwall , and enjoy the beach or hike the Southwest coast path. The roads are challenging, it makes you unwind ( you can’t hurry). Our dogs also had a very nice time, the garden has fences, so they can walk freely. They can run in the field nearby. The owners are very very friendly. It was a very nice holiday!!

We just completed an incredible stay at Great Eckworthy cottages in the 6 sleeper with our family from the US and UK and our fur baby Well before our arrival, Anna contacted me with recommendations of the surrounding areas, which really helped us plan our visit in advance. Upon arriving, we were enthusiastically greeted by Chris and Anna, who gave us a very warm welcome and a tour of the beautiful cottage. They also left a tray of fresh local eggs, coffee, and milk with a handwritten welcome note. This was a lovely personal touch, which was greatly appreciated The cottage itself was impeccable. It was very pet friendly and had a fully enclosed backyard for our fur baby to roam freely. We had 3 good-sized rooms and bathrooms , a lovely, spacious living and dining room and a fully spec’d kitchen. The cottage contained everything we needed over the weekend, including dog throws and bowls, games, books, and the softest gowns that we wouldn’t even find in a luxury hotel. We especially loved the hot tub and the fact that the hosts refilled it on the second day of our stay. During our stay, we made the most of the recommendations given to us by Anna. We did a walk in Hartland Quay and had gorgeous dinners at the Black River Inn and the Royal George Inn in Appledore. It was an all round amazing, good-for-the soul stay, and we already can’t wait to return. A huge thank you to Chris and Anna.

Such a delightful cottage perfect for a couple’s getaway. Anna and Chris have done a fantastic job in creating a lovely warm and cosy space with quality furnishings, kitchen equipment and toiletries. It was a chilly July afternoon when we arrived and the wood burner had been thoughtfully lit for us. The hot tub is a treat at the end of the day. The decking area is a relaxing area for a morning coffee while admiring the stunning hanging baskets and pots prepared by Anna. Lots of information provided for the local area and things to do. (Cycle on the Tarka Trail recommended). They are very keen to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and always available to help but not intrusively so. Recommended if you want a peaceful stay in lovely surroundings.

Absolutely stunning cottage and lovely welcome from Anna & Chris. Had a wonderful three days here but the highlight was hiring cycles and doing the Tarka Trial south route. Wonderful cavery at The Royal Hotel in Bideford on Sunday. Would certainly recommend this cottage.

Very easy to book and cottage exactly as advertised.. hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. The info supplied about the area allowed us to plan well ahead of the visit for a more enjoyable holiday. All in all, a fantastic holiday.. would recommend.

What a beautiful cottage, perfect for a couple looking for a relaxing and peaceful break. Lovely location and outside space, the interior decoration is gorgeous and this cottage had everything we needed (even an umbrella, which unfortunately we did need!) Hosts Anna and Chris were so helpful and sent us lots of information on the local area so that we could plan ahead and book restaurants etc. We look forward to returning soon!

The cottage is immaculate and superbly furnished. It is a short drive from the local inn which was friendly and the hub of the community. The beaches are lovely in north Devon and plenty are dog friendly. We had a great time and thank Anna & Chris

The barn was just lovely, in immaculate condition and so well equipped we couldn’t think of anything more we could possibly have wanted/needed. The location is good, and the setting idyllic. The hot tub was welcome after a day walking. A great experience.

The most amazing little cottage. What a great find, you’ve really thought of everything. We had wall to wall sunshine so it was heavenly. Sandymouth beach is stunning. We spent the whole day there and walked to Bude. 5* xx

Simply perfect. We travelled together as a family of three couples, so having three superking bedrooms with three shower/bathrooms was ideal for us and exactly what we wanted when considering accommodation in Devon. The property is just as described on the website and very well looked after. It is spotlessly clean and well equipped with tasteful furnishings and extra little touches which make it a special place to stay. The outside space has a hot tub and sunloungers, with a dining table and chairs – perfect for alfresco relaxing. We had beautiful weather in mid May yet had the added benefit of the logburner for chilly evenings. Anna and Chris are really welcoming whilst giving their guests complete privacy. We all loved The Barn at Great Eckworthy and can’t wait to return – it is simply perfect for us and ticks all our boxes.

We had a fantastic 4 night break in the Granary, Great Eckworthy. Anna and Chris gave us a lovely, warm welcome on our arrival and showed us around the property and where to find everything. The attention to detail such as fresh flowers on the window sill and table, the welcome tray with farm eggs and scones, clotted cream etc, and even a map of the local area and tide timetable showed how much care has gone into making this the perfect holiday getaway. The bed was very comfortable, the toiletries were all local and eco friendly and the large dressing room gave us plenty of space. A super property hosted by lovely owners – thank you so much Anna and Chris.
