We just completed an incredible stay at Great Eckworthy cottages in the 6 sleeper with our family from the US and UK and our fur baby Well before our arrival, Anna contacted me with recommendations of the surrounding areas, which really helped us plan our visit in advance. Upon arriving, we were enthusiastically greeted by Chris and Anna, who gave us a very warm welcome and a tour of the beautiful cottage. They also left a tray of fresh local eggs, coffee, and milk with a handwritten welcome note. This was a lovely personal touch, which was greatly appreciated The cottage itself was impeccable. It was very pet friendly and had a fully enclosed backyard for our fur baby to roam freely. We had 3 good-sized rooms and bathrooms , a lovely, spacious living and dining room and a fully spec’d kitchen. The cottage contained everything we needed over the weekend, including dog throws and bowls, games, books, and the softest gowns that we wouldn’t even find in a luxury hotel. We especially loved the hot tub and the fact that the hosts refilled it on the second day of our stay. During our stay, we made the most of the recommendations given to us by Anna. We did a walk in Hartland Quay and had gorgeous dinners at the Black River Inn and the Royal George Inn in Appledore. It was an all round amazing, good-for-the soul stay, and we already can’t wait to return. A huge thank you to Chris and Anna.

Such a delightful cottage perfect for a couple’s getaway. Anna and Chris have done a fantastic job in creating a lovely warm and cosy space with quality furnishings, kitchen equipment and toiletries. It was a chilly July afternoon when we arrived and the wood burner had been thoughtfully lit for us. The hot tub is a treat at the end of the day. The decking area is a relaxing area for a morning coffee while admiring the stunning hanging baskets and pots prepared by Anna. Lots of information provided for the local area and things to do. (Cycle on the Tarka Trail recommended). They are very keen to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and always available to help but not intrusively so. Recommended if you want a peaceful stay in lovely surroundings.

Absolutely stunning cottage and lovely welcome from Anna & Chris. Had a wonderful three days here but the highlight was hiring cycles and doing the Tarka Trial south route. Wonderful cavery at The Royal Hotel in Bideford on Sunday. Would certainly recommend this cottage.

Very easy to book and cottage exactly as advertised.. hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. The info supplied about the area allowed us to plan well ahead of the visit for a more enjoyable holiday. All in all, a fantastic holiday.. would recommend.

What a beautiful cottage, perfect for a couple looking for a relaxing and peaceful break. Lovely location and outside space, the interior decoration is gorgeous and this cottage had everything we needed (even an umbrella, which unfortunately we did need!) Hosts Anna and Chris were so helpful and sent us lots of information on the local area so that we could plan ahead and book restaurants etc. We look forward to returning soon!

The cottage is immaculate and superbly furnished. It is a short drive from the local inn which was friendly and the hub of the community. The beaches are lovely in north Devon and plenty are dog friendly. We had a great time and thank Anna & Chris

The barn was just lovely, in immaculate condition and so well equipped we couldn’t think of anything more we could possibly have wanted/needed. The location is good, and the setting idyllic. The hot tub was welcome after a day walking. A great experience.

Anna is lovely and a fabulous communicator. The Granary was just perfect and beautifully decorated. Enjoyed the hot tub and explored the local area which was great. Highly recommended

Anna and Chris are perfect hosts as is their very stylish Granary. Everything you need is there for a short break or a longer holiday. North Devon is great lots to do and see.

The most amazing little cottage. What a great find, you’ve really thought of everything. We had wall to wall sunshine so it was heavenly. Sandymouth beach is stunning. We spent the whole day there and walked to Bude. 5* xx

Simply perfect. We travelled together as a family of three couples, so having three superking bedrooms with three shower/bathrooms was ideal for us and exactly what we wanted when considering accommodation in Devon. The property is just as described on the website and very well looked after. It is spotlessly clean and well equipped with tasteful furnishings and extra little touches which make it a special place to stay. The outside space has a hot tub and sunloungers, with a dining table and chairs – perfect for alfresco relaxing. We had beautiful weather in mid May yet had the added benefit of the logburner for chilly evenings. Anna and Chris are really welcoming whilst giving their guests complete privacy. We all loved The Barn at Great Eckworthy and can’t wait to return – it is simply perfect for us and ticks all our boxes.

We had a fantastic 4 night break in the Granary, Great Eckworthy. Anna and Chris gave us a lovely, warm welcome on our arrival and showed us around the property and where to find everything. The attention to detail such as fresh flowers on the window sill and table, the welcome tray with farm eggs and scones, clotted cream etc, and even a map of the local area and tide timetable showed how much care has gone into making this the perfect holiday getaway. The bed was very comfortable, the toiletries were all local and eco friendly and the large dressing room gave us plenty of space. A super property hosted by lovely owners – thank you so much Anna and Chris.

Thanks for an enjoyable & very comfortable stay. Good to have breakfast on the decking in the sunshine. Great location for RHS Rosemoor, Hartland Abbey, Bude and all it’s beaches.

The Granary was beautifully decorated and spotless. Particularly enjoyed having a dressing room and watching the little birds around the property. We had a very relaxing stay.

Provided with gorgeous linens, comfortable beds and luxurious toiletries. The owners provide a wealth of information for guests, sharing details of local events taking place during your stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again!

Anna and Chris made us feel extremely welcome. The house was immaculate and wonderfully furnished. We had a really lovely time visiting all the local villages and relaxing in the evening with a dip in the jacuzzi. We have booked to go back next year.

Thankyou so much to Anna and Chris. We had a wonderful week. The cottage was simply stunning, luxuriously furnished and equipped. Located in a beautiful, tranquil valley. For us the urge to check to check the news, the phone and emails totally disappeared, instead the hard choices were whether to take a pre-dinner stroll or have another dip in the hot tub. We stayed in The Barn which sleeps six. Immaculate. Three stunning bedrooms, each with it’s own bathroom. Gorgeous views and utter peace. Anna and Chris sent us information about the area in advance so that we could book restaurants and think about places to visit. They welcomed us warmly, were available if needed but not remotely intrusive. By the time we left, it honestly felt as if we were leaving friends. If you need somewhere to recharge your batteries, this is the place! Heaps to do locally, but if like us, you might find that relaxing in and around the fabulous house is enough.

Anna and Chris were prefect hosts. The Granary is a wonderful home in the North Devon countryside. The space is beautifully designed and functions really well. We particularly loved the hot tub and the log burner – both great for a winters evening. Whilst we were working remotely so did not get the chance to spend as much time in the local area, what we saw and did was great. Recommend to all!

The Barn is lovely, comfy, well appointed house with every amenity. It was a pleasure to stay at. Chris and Anna made us more than welcome. I would thoroughly recommend.

Wow! 5* We would highly recommend a stay at this property. We loved: The warm welcome from the hosts The thoughtful hamper with high quality extras, many locally sourced. The accommodation with a pre-lite fire on arrival for that truly warm welcome. The Cottage was spotlessly clean and had all that we needed for a cosy stay over the Christmas period, including wonderful Christmas decorations. The birds and the views are beautiful. The hot tub was such a treat. Fabulous hosts, friendly, helpful and so kind. What’s not to like? The only downfall was, we had to leave.

Our stay at The Barn in Great Eckworthy through Classic Cottages was nothing short of enchanting. The cottage was a dream. It was a 5 star home away from home, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Anna and Chris are the ultimate hosts and nothing was any trouble. I would highly recommend Great Eckworthy The Barn, especially with your dogs as they are treated as well as we were. Would love to come back again.

We received the warmest of welcomes at Gt Eckworthy from Anna and Chris. The personal touch really does go a long way! I would describe The Cottage as having the WOW factor. Immaculately presented, a stunning location, so quiet and peaceful. It’s an absolute pleasure to return to every day after our trips exploring. The quality of the furnishings and comfort offered to guests is exceptionally high. Compliments to the housekeeping for their endeavours, simply outstanding. We relaxed inside in comfort, enjoyed outside meals on the deck in glorious Autumn sunshine surrounded by Anna’s beautiful tubs and baskets and the sparkling and spotlessly clean hot tub was the icing on the cake! So many lovely places to visit close by, especially RHS Rosemoor. Appledore and Instow. Sandymouth Bay was delightful. We loved every second of our stay. Having stayed in numerous holiday cottages over many years, The Barn was the most comfortable and and well-appointed, luxurious holiday cottage that we’ve ever stayed in. It offers everything we could have wished for and more, it certainly deserves it’s 5-star rating. Anna and Chris are so welcoming and offer many hints as to eateries and local places of interest. For example, we enjoyed a great evening and meal at the Farmers Arms at Woolsery, an excellent pub restaurant, serving high quality food, with a good wine list. The idyllic rural location of The Barn has to be the icing on the cake. We will certainly be returning.

This cottage is the best rental we have stayed in. We have been doing this for over 50 years in the West Country. Anna and Chris have put together an amazing package of thoughtful and delightfully crafted places to stay. You will not be disappointed, just go ahead and book.
