This was our fourth stay as we love the place so much. We stayed at the Barn again where there are three good sized rooms and bathrooms so can easily suit six people with ease. The decor is lovely and high-end and the property and grounds are well cared for by the owners, Chris and Anna.
We were joined by our daughter and her partner for the weekend and they stayed in the Cottage which is just across the courtyard from the Barn. Again, the decor there is spot on.
It was quiet and secluded which suited us and our dogs and we saw much birdlife around the grounds. We also had the added benefit of two secure fields for the dogs adjoining the property and outside patios and jacuzzis for both cottages.
The weather was perfect and we had a great time as it’s only a few miles to several beaches (Westward Ho! and Instow) and dog-friendly pubs (The Bell Inn – Parkham for Sunday lunch, our new favourite, the Boathouse at Instow and also The Royal George at Appledore). All three pubs were excellent and had great staff, so well worth the visit. We also discovered Melbury Plantation a few miles away from the cottages which looks like a scene from Game of Thrones. Well worth a few hours walking around the forest grounds.
Even if you don’t want to drive there is plenty to do at the property, including walks, BBQ, nature watching and star gazing at night. Here’s to the next trip.
